When Hemorrhoids Need Surgery
Can I be fired from my job?
Ok well i just started a new job maybe about 3 or 4 weeks ago. And one day at work i knew i weren’t feeling too good and asked my boss could i go home he said yes.I thought it was just a cold and my hemorrhoid acting up from my cold. So instead of home i went to hospital where they told me I had a peri rectal abscess and needed surgery immediately before a blood clot went to my heart. So had surgery and had to be inpatient for a week. My boss said that’s not good that i had to have a week off and he couldn’t guarantee my employment when i came back since i was new. Now im getting ready to come back to work but now i have certain restrictions for another 2 weeks ( no bending, running. lifting, etc) Now my boss already threatened my job for being out a week and im nervous about my restrictions until my wound heals that he could fire me. Is this legal??????
I’d be very surprised if you have a job to go back to. You barely started work, then left for a week, then will need light duties for another two?
No, it sucks, but very few companies would hold a job under those circumstances, and they are totally legal in ending it.
