Medication Hemorrhoids

Question about types of laxatives relating to constipation and hemorrhoids?
I am currently constipated and I think I have hard stool. I also have hemorrhoids and don’t think I will be able to go without pushing but I don’t want to push because that will make the roids worse. What type of medicine / over the counter drug should I use to relieve this? What type of stool softener should I use to avoid worsening the hemorrhoids? What I am worried about is that if I get the wrong type of stool softener / laxative that will make me want to go but not make my stool soft. I don’t want to be in pain because of the medication but also not able to go because the stool still is hard? If it forces the poo out while not softening it it will make the roids much worse. Thank you for all serious answers.
Well, you are likely past the point where a stool softener would be of much help. Ordinarily, I’d suggest Milk of Magnesia to start, but in your case it actually might be a bit easier on the personality if you simply used a Fleet enema. It will work at the site of the problem, soften the stool and ease the passing. After that, you probably should follow up with a dose of Milk of Magnesia to keep things on the move, as you are not just affected at the end of the trail, but the trail leading up to the exit as well- places the enema won’t reach. But you really have to attack your problems on the long term with a change of diet to include more fiber and fluid. That means eating your fruits, veggies and whole grain foods. You can get the drinkable fiber you mix in liquid, and that is a good insurance policy. But you really are designed to use fiber from food, and that’s how your body works most efficiently. If you change your diet, so that you do not get constipated at all, the hemorrhoids can heal themselves in most cases. At the moment, unfortunately, no way you choose to go is going to be entirely painless, and you will probably bleed. So you should get some of the hemorrhoidal cream and witch hazel pads (Tucks, or a generic). When you do actually go to the toilet, instead of dry paper, use baby wipes. Those are a little easier on the personality than dry TP, and formulated for soothing bums. Avoid most of the chemical laxatives, because although constipation is a big enemy, diarrhea is not a good friend, and can cause as much bleeding and irritation as laxatives do. So try a Fleet enema for the immediate help, and change the diet to avoid repeats in the future.
