Should an employer be able to require employees to undergo elective surgery (not for cometic reasons)?
Should an employer require employees to undergo elective surgery, such as for a wart or mole, varicose veins, or hemorrhoids? (NOTE: this is NOT “cosmetic” type surgery). Why or why not?
Of course not, that would be ridiculous.
Any surgery (elective or otherwise) carries with it, life threatening risks, and it is up to the individual whether or not they undergo those risks.
No employer has the right to “require” anyone undergo surgery to qualify for or maintain a job.
If an employer doesn’t like the looks of someones mole or varicose veins they aren’t “required” to hire them in the first place.
