Colitis Hemorrhoids
Has anyone been misdiagnosed with IBS to be diagnosed late with more severe disease?
If yes, what were diagnosed you and what other symptoms you have. My doctor diagnosed me with IBS and hemorrhoids, but I think may be ulcerative colitis or something more serious. The symptoms seem to occur independently of food or stress at certain times.
My daughter was diagnosed with IBS when she was about 16. She had suffered from diarrhea and bloating for about 4 years. Dr. wanted to do a colonoscopy, but she flatly refused. Instead it has been tested for celiac's, tried a lactose-free diet, etc. She could not eat salad and a day well. The next day she would have salad and spend the next hour in the bathroom. He did go to school and later working hard. It has always been plan the day that included a toilet. Finally at age 28, she went for the colonoscopy. Everything came back normal. Ultimately his internist tried on a drug which slows the production of bile. It worked. It turns out that the liver produces too much bile. It was something so simple, yet Dr. told us very little Dr. never check that.
