There is some thought that hemorrhoids my being a bit hereditary. There seems to be a familial tendency, but it probably plays a small role. In fact, we all have hemorrhoids. What causes problems is when they swell, causing symptoms (Most often pain, itching and a bright red blood from trauma). Things you can do to prevent an outbreak include: avoiding constipation, weight loss (if you are overweight), avoid prolonged sitting – whether at work or on the toilet, wash the area regularly.
